Tales from the Great North Road / Journey to the FringeIn the summer of 2004, a merry band of actors, filmmakers and musicians embarked upon Pointed Arrow’s first journey. Tales from the Great North Road and the subsequent documentary film, Journey to the Fringe were an exhilarating and an exhausting journey along the backbone of Britain. The project was a pilgrimage from London to Edinburgh's Fringe Festival; a quest to find the Holy Grail; an exploration of "Christian Britain".
The ragbag of artistes travelled Britain's Great North Road, combining sections of the long, straight Roman road; snakelike Medieval road; and today's high-speed tarmac strip. There was an open invitation for those who wanted to come along and join the camaraderie, fun and adventure. By foot, by bike, by horse and by car, we wended our way through forests and across rivers, stopping in places along the way to perform our play, Tales From The Great North Road.
